Current Experience

Andrea joined N-Able Services Ltd in March 2010 working initially on a part-time basis  however she has increased her hours working as a Case Manager for adult clients with acquired brain injury. In addition she has been an Assessor and a Trainer in manual/moving and handling since 2005 and has experience of assessment to children and adults with acquired brain injury and of providing bespoke manual handling training to both. She is particularly interested in finding solutions where there is resistance to manual handling and has attended seminars in behaviour management, bariatric management, appropriate and accurate sling assessment and postural seating.

Andrea has experience of working holistically with clients who have severe learning disabilities, severe physical disabilities, speech and communication problems, altered levels of consciousness and age related conditions. Andrea has worked with all of these conditions in a variety of settings including the NHS, domiciliary care, private and the voluntary sectors.

Andrea promotes independence and empowerment with her clients and is supportive of her clients expressed needs and interests. By acting as an advocate to her clients Andrea ensures that her clients remain central to support and care and that decision making reflects her client’s best interests.

Andrea has experience of working with clients, families and financial deputies. She has experience of establishing 24 hour care packages, working with clients in moving from residential care settings into the community and with manual handling assessment for present and future accommodation needs.

Andrea works within multi-disciplinary team rehabilitation programmes to assess, coordinate, implement and review her client needs. In doing so, she comes into contact with and liaises with a variety of healthcare professionals and support staff.


Previous Experience

Andrea qualified as a Registered Nurse in 1989 and post qualification staffed on neurosurgical and neurology wards at St Bartholomew’s Hospital in London. This gave her experience of working in acute brain and spinal trauma, orthopaedics, and management of hormonal deficiencies. Following on from these positions Andrea then progressed to care and support of those receiving kidney transplantation and limb amputation.

During her studies at Hull University Andrea worked in oncology, ENT and renal settings.   Andrea has also worked in nursing recruitment for BUPA Healthcare Professionals.

Following graduation Andrea worked in elderly residential and community care settings with individuals in persistent vegetative state and minimal consciousness.

Andrea has also worked for Speakability as a Dysphasia Development Worker for the North West of England.

Andrea has worked for the MS Society and for the Chester MS Support Centre supporting members with Multiple Sclerosis and other neurological conditions to receive therapeutic support for their condition.
